Grilled Country Style Ribs

So you want to know about country style ribs and how you should grill them? Well don’t worry, I’m here to help you out and show you how to properly grill these tasty slabs for a smokin’ hot, juicy flavor!

First off, let’s talk about what country style ribs are. These slabs are the meatiest of pork ribs and are cut from sirloin or the rib end of the loin. Some butchers sell these tasty meats in large slabs while most of them cut it into multiple pieces. You can choose between boneless and bone in but personally I would go for the bone in because I find that it has more flavor when grilled.

Keep in mind that some butchers sell pork shoulder cuts as country style ribs. These are not country style ribs because it’s loaded with fat and needs to be cooked at a higher temperature to avoid a rubbery texture.

Country style ribs cut from the loin are grilled much like a porkchop and they cook much faster than fraud pork shoulder cuts.

  • check1 ½  ounces soy sauce
  • check2 tablespoons inglehoffer original stone ground mustard
  • check¼  cup kc masterpeice original barbecue sauce

Directions:

First off, prepare the marinade. In a large bowl, combine the pepper, garlic powder, brown sugar, water, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and onion powder. Include the mustard into the mix and whisk until all ingredients are blended together. In a separate bowl, reserve about ¼ of the marinade for later use.

Grab your pork ribs and cut them to size. Use a large Ziploc bag and place the cut pork ribs inside. Take the marinade and gently pour on the inside of the bag. Before sealing it, make sure to remove excess air and keep the bag nice and air-tight. Let the ribs marinate for 30 minutes at room temperature. If you really want that marinade to soak in the ribs, you can put the bag inside a refrigerator and let it sit overnight.

Now, prepare your grill and make sure the grill grates are nice and clean. Start heating it up. While it heats up, grab your barbecue sauce and mix it with the reserved marinade until it forms a consistent texture.

Remove the pork ribs from the Ziploc bag and discard the used marinade. Grab a brush and lightly coat the ribs with the barbecue sauce mix and grill over high heat with either charcoal or gas. Make sure to cover the grill.

Check the pork ribs every 10-15 minutes and turn. Once the temperature of the meat reaches 155 degrees celsius, you can now remove it from the grill. Served the grilled country style ribs and enjoy!
